The Info-Scroll Learning System

Introduction
Welcome to the Info-Scroll Learning System !
The Info-Scroll Learning System increases learning by a factor of 2 to 10 - sometimes more . . .
This is done using the power of your greatest asset - your brain !
C'mon - How can your increase learning by a factor of 2 to 10 ??? Are you joking ?
No, we are not joking. The Info-Scroll Learning System uses the following simple, well-known principles:
Your brain can process information faster than it can be presented in written or oral form - and - Your brain can easily juggle multiple "thought-threads" at one time. Take a moment to ponder this . . . then read on . . .
This is not speed reading . . . it's speed absorption . . .

Speed reading teaches techniques to, uh, speed read on traditional reading materials . . .

The Info-Scroll Learning System takes the principles of speed reading and applies them to the materials being read.

But like I said, this is not about speed reading (it's about speed absorption) . . .
Ok, so how is this "speed absorption" done ???
Anyone can significantly increase their ability to consume and process (and remember)
information with these simple components:

1. a "brain-friendly" format of presenting the information (see Head First Labs),
2. the Peter Marshall writing style (reference on him here, on the writing style below).

Now, the delivery mechanism is either
- the internet, with an auto-scroll feature found in almost any computer mouse device
or
- legal size books (more on this below, but briefly, this provides the best visual for learning)

And remember what Socrates said, "The soul never thinks without a picture" (pic)
What in the world is a "brain-friendly format ???
A brain-friendly format
- delivers "thought chunks"
- in a manner that's easy to read
- and that stimulates thinking while allowing for speed absorption

ANY (traditional) document (like a newspaper article) is NOT in a brain-friendly format, but consider that:

- The headlines of a newspaper are brain-friendly, since you can rapidly scan and process them
- But the articles in newspapers - ugh - they are NOT in brain-friendly format
    - You can stomach one or possibly two articles in one sitting,
since you don't have the time or the brainpower to read more . . .

Another example is a history book . . . which is NEVER in a brain-friendly format . . . except for the pictures . . .

What's your typical reaction to a history book (from an unwilling student)?
Is it "Oh joy, I'm going to learn about the social issues of pre-industrial New Zealand !"

No, your typical (and only reaction from high school students) is:
"Oh no, I am NEVER going to make it through one lousy chapter, let alone THE ENTIRE BOOK !"
Uh, you didn't really answer my question, "What is a brain-friendly format ???"
A brain-friendly format is one that engages your brain and makes you want to learn.

It makes you want to turn the page to find out what is next . . .

Now, maybe you've had a page-turning novel that you love . . . but you are reading that novel for fun and enjoyment.

Typically, people don't pick up a history book "for fun" . . .

What if ALL learning could be fun . . . THEN we'd be on to something . . .
Ok, ok. Sounds like a lot of hype. Can I actually see this in action?
Of course you can see it in action, just hang on for a few more comments.

The brain friendly format has been perfected by Head First Labs

You can read all about it on their site, but very briefly, it's this:
Learning isn't something that just happens to you.
	It's something you do.
You can't learn without pumping some neurons.

Learning means building more mental pathways,
bridging connections between new and pre-existing knowledge,
		recognizing patterns, and
turning facts and information into knowledge
				(and ultimately, wisdom).

Read about it officially here from Head First Labs.

plus here are the Head First tactics - they say it much better than I'm doing on this really boring web page . . .
Ok, we've discussed the brain-friendly format, now very briefly on the Peter Marshall writing style.

The above paragraph is written in this style, that is, indenting.

Indenting delivers "thought chunks"
that allows the eye to scan more quickly
than text that has to be concentrated on so heavily (think boring History textbook).

"Thought chunks" are the theory of "speed-reading" - you just scan and process,
attempting to process thoughts rather than words.

More in next paragraph . . .
Now, I am no expert on speed-reading, but what they attempt to get you to do is this:
	- scan reading material as quickly as possible to "capture the information (pictorially)"
		- this material is always in a non-brain friendly format.

In other words, your eyes are darting back and forth, taking in chunks of data and then processing it.

With the Info-Scroll Learning System, your brain does the work, not your snappy eyes.

Speed-reading has the right concept - that is, your brain is amazing.

But with the Info-Scroll Learning System, the information zips by you in brain friendly format
Your eyes aren't darting all over the place,
		you just relax and absorb.

You don't have to take a course to learn the Info-Scroll Learning System.
You simply absorb the data and let your brain do its amazing thing . . .
Ok, we've discussed
	- the brain-friendly format (from Head First Labs)
	- the Peter Marshall writing style.

Now, let's look at the delivery methods. First up is the internet.
Delivering the Info-Scroll Learning Method via the Internet

Documents have to be delivered in .pdf format, then use the auto-scroll feature of Adobe Acrobat
- there is no "throttle" on the speed, that would be a great feature

Documents have to be on your machine since the ".pdf" window that
is embedded in a web browser does not have the auto-scroll option
Delivering the Info-Scroll Learning Method via a document (or book)

Use legal-size paper / binding.

Really, who ever said everything had to be 8 1/2 x 11, anyway? The paper companies?

You can be much more efficient using a legal size document / book than a normal size document.

Probably one reason books are the size they are is - who could stomach reading a page
that's the size of a legal notepad, especially when it's in a non-brain friendly format.
In other words, the pages are the size they are
because you need a break (turning the page) after concentrating so heavily on the text.

But with the brain friendly format, you can zip through a legal-size page of information in a snap,
so it's not drudgery to have to suffer through a "long" page of snooze-inducing information.

Try it out on one of the examples below.
Uh, did you forget about me ??
Oh, sorry, I did get a bit long-winded there.

I think I've given you the necessary background for The Info-Scroll Learning System.

So are you ready to try it out?

2. Genesis
- to get the full effect, download to your PC, then open the .pdf document and choose "View, Automatically scroll"
- then remove your hands from the mouse and let the Bible "flow" into your brain . . .
